ABOUT

Rachael was born in Derby, and raised in Rotherham (South Yorkshire). In 2009 she graduated from the University of Huddersfield with a bachelor's degree in Fine Art - Drawing and Painting.

There are two main focuses for her work. She offers both portraits and pet portraits to clients, and creates work based around her own personal conceptual concerns. Both lines of work have common threads. They are delicate, detailed and realistic in style, and centre around ideas of identity.

Through portraiture she offers a realistic representation of the sitter, providing a strong likeness, and reflecting their character. When working from photographs, she often ask for several images so that she can build an idea of who she is drawing in her mind, and translate this into her work.

Her personal work pursues ideas about fragility, temporal existence, human experience, emotion, psychology, consciousness, connectedness, and the minutiae of life.

She focuses on her art full time, currently working from her home in South Yorkshire.
